The recent mauling in Ile-A-La-Crosse brings home a point regarding dogs running at large in all communities.
The CBC report located at Vicious dog attack angers Sask. mom regards the recent mauling of 6 year old boy in the community of Ile-A-La-Crosse.
No one in their right mind would want any child or person to go through what this young child did, however, it could happen anywhere in the Province. Of course the family pet is the friendliest and tamest animal alive to the owning family, the animal wouldn’t harm anyone/or anything. But when the dog is out running at large, you never know what can set them off and the end result is that a young person or anyone for that matter can be severely harmed by the animal’s attack.
That is one of the reason’s all communities enact bylaws to try and control any animal running at large. It is a lot better to have a few controls in place on the animals rather than having to face a child who has gone through a vicious dog attack. Of course in the above story, the owner of the animal certainly wasn’t looking after their animal to ensure an attack did not occur. It only takes one bad owner to paint a black picture for all responsible pet owners.
The trick for the communities is finding the correct amount of controls that the majority of people can live with and having a mechanism to act on those controls.

The Town of Hanley has reissued the ‘Animal Control Bylaw, 2009′ and has copies available at the Town Office. A copy of the Bylaw has been put up on the Town of Hanley Website at:
Town of Hanley and clicking on the ‘News & Events’ tab and then choosing ‘Animal Control Bylaw, 2009′. This will open an Adobe Acrobat PDF file in a new window for your viewing.
You can also access the Bylaw directly by clicking Animal Control Bylaw, 2009
I do have to apologize for the upload as the Town used 14 inch paper to print their bylaw and my scanner only will do 11 inch paper. So I had to cut the pages to fit. All the information is in the file, albeit some of the pages are shorter than others.

The Town of Hanley is moving along in trying to bring more citizens to the Town with the new Sub/Division being created in the North West corner of the Town.

The work has been progressing throughout the summer months, however, I was unable to get a picture of the sign until recently due to a few technical problems…

A new Hanley Hermes has been issued by the Town of Hanley and can be accessed through the Town of Hanley website at Town of Hanley
You can also access the Hermes direct by clicking Hanley Hermes – September 2009
One addition I think should be added to in the September 2009 Hermes is on the second page in regards to the new dishwasher. A large THANK YOU should be sent out to Les Loberg who removed the old machine, got the new machine ready for hookup and labelled the dishwasher with numbers and created the instructions on how to use the machine.
It is a learning experience for all in the correct operation of the new machine, but if we all follow the directions that Les put out, we should have many happy users of the kitchen and dishwasher for years to come.
